Life at Company

We’re working together to build strong communities inside and outside.
Pathway to Excellence Designation
Hendrick Medical Center has achieved the Pathway to Excellence designation for the fourth time from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), a subsidiary of the American Nurses Association (ANA). The Pathway to Excellence designation recognizes the essential elements of an ideal nursing practice environment where nurses can flourish. The designation confirms the professional satisfaction of nurses at Hendrick Medical Center and identifies it as one of the best places to work. Hendrick first received the distinction in 2007, and was redesignated in 2010, 2013 and 2016. Institutions are eligible to receive designation every three years.
The DAISY Award
Hendrick Health participates in the international recognition program The DAISY Award to honor and celebrate the skillful, compassionate care nurses provide every day. DAISY stands for Diseases Attacking the Immune System and is the namesake for the DAISY foundation, which was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes after he died from complications of the autoimmune disease ITP in 1999. During his hospitalization, the family deeply appreciated the care and compassion shown to Patrick and to his entire family. When he died, they felt compelled to say "thank you" to nurses in a very public way, and it is an honor to include Hendrick Health nurses in the program.

Nurse Residency Program

At Hendrick, we understand the challenges nurses face in their transition from student to professional, particularly in the first year. The Hendrick Nurse Residency Program is the bridge between education and practice, using three components to prepare and to support newly licensed RNs as they build careers devoted to caring for others.
  • 12 month program
  • Monthly seminars cover leadership, quality outcomes, professional role, and evidenced-based practice
  • All newly licensed RNs are automatically enrolled into the program

New critical care unit nurses at Hendrick Medical Center will also be part of a CCU fellowship.
